What is a brochure-style web site?

Brochure-style sites are abundant on the web—the format gets its name because these sites often start from a print brochure as the basis for the site. Basic pages usually include: home, contact us, products (or services), FAQs, about us (or mission), and related sites (links of interest).

Special note regarding portfolio sites:

A portfolio web site might be an appropriate project for seniors who have accumulated signifcant content to present in a portfolio to prospective employers. If you are a senior and you are interested in developing a portfolio site, we will reference the e-portfolio guidelines to develop the site.

I have chosen to make my own creative brief for the web site assignment. In addition to meeting the technical requirements present in the other client profiles, I will submit a creative brief for approval. The creative brief will describe the client I have chosen to design a web site for. I understand that my creative brief must be approved by the instructor before I commence developing the web site.

What is the purpose of the web site and the user demographic?
You must define your target audience: prospective employers, friends and family, potential consulting work?

What is the content for the web site?
You must define the five pages of content that your site will have.

What other functionality (beyond content delivery) must the web site have?
Somewhere on your web site, you must have a mechanism for collecting inquiries.

What adjectives could be used for my web site?
What is the emotional response that you are going for in your design?

Who are my competitors?
I will leave it to you to evaluate model web sites and to design a web site that is comparably functional and offers an acceptable design. Share your aspirational web sites using the Diigo Art 307 group bookmark "inspiration".

What are the goals of the site and how will it be judged?
Be sure you have read and understand the assignment and objectives. Review the accompanying rubric to understand how the project will be assessed.
